Actor and director. Capaldi's body of work has been predominantly in film and television. He appeared in Local Hero (Bill Forsyth, 1983), which set his career in motion. He is known to British audiences for embodying the foul-mouthed political spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in the television comedy series The Thick of It (BBC4/BBC2 2005-12) and internationally for playing the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who (BBC 1963 and ongoing) from 2013 to 2017, notably shortly after having played the role of a WHO Doctor in World War Z (Marc Forster, 2013).
