Actor and comedian. Freeman rose to prominence Tim Canterbury in the original UK version of Ricky Gervais's The Office (2001–2003). His international profile was consolidated by his portrayal of Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit film trilogy (2012–2014). On television his other notable roles include Dr. Watson in the British crime drama Sherlock (2010–2017), and Lester Nygaard in the first season of the American TV series Fargo (2014).
