Theatre and television director, writer, and producer. After entering the profession in stage management, Goodwin became an assistant director at the Royal Court Theatre. He was a co-founder of the Living Theatre company in Leicester in 1960. From the mid-1960s, he became established as a television director of both comedy and drama, including of episodes of Z-Cars, Doctor Who and On the Buses.
