Actor. Hoskins’s stage career began in the late 1960s. In the 1980s he became known as a screen actor after playing the lead in Dennis Potter’s Pennies from Heaven (BBC1, 1978) and playing a bewildered detective in the comedy film Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Robert Zemeckis, Richard Williams, 1988). He is remembered for his work in numerous British films including The Long Good Friday (John Mackenzie, 1980) Mona Lisa (Neil Jordan, 1986) and Made in Dagenham (Nigel Cole, 2010).
