Entitled 'My Nephew' during drafting. A man returns home from prison to find that his his two aunts have rented out his room to a woman. Written as a television play for broadcast on ITV in 1960, Night School was almost entirely re-written for broadcast on BBC Radio in 1966. The published text is a version of the original TV play, but suitable for stage production (see 'Resources').

In Night School, the character of Solto mentions seeing the husband of a former girlfriend making a speech at Marble Arch. This is a reference to the real practice of members of the public giving speeches from Speakers' Corner in the North East corner of Hyde Park, by the arch.
