Actor. Wing had a long career in television and theatre, with 65 years of stage work and a first screen appearance in 1938. She is best remembered for playing the role of the matriarch Lou Beale in the BBC soap opera EastEnders (1980-), which she did from the show’s first episode until her character’s death in 1988.
