Harold Pinter's film script adaptation of Adam Hall's novel The Berlin Memorandum (1965). Pinter agreed to adapt the novel for director Michael Anderson as thanks for Anderson's ongoing support for Pinter's screenwriting career.

Adapted Work Note: In adapting Hall's work, Pinter altered, removed and invented a number of scenes. According to Stephen Gale, Hall was not pleased with Pinter's adaptation, much to Pinter's surprise.
