Loner Albert Stokes, who lives with his controlling mother, is falsely accused of improperly touching a female colleague at an office party. On leaving the party, he meets another woman who invites him to her flat where he angrily demeans her, before returning home to his mother. It was developed as a television play in 1959, but it was first performed as a 60-minute radio play on the BBC Third Programme, shortly before an ABC Television production for ITV, in 1960.
