Ravenscroft worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company between 1979-81, 1984-87 and 1993-94 where he appeared in a number of seminal productions including The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (1981 and later filmed in 1982), Henry V (1984) starring Kenneth Branagh and as Banquo in Macbeth (1993) starring Derek Jacobi. He returned to the company in 2007 as Duke Senior in As You Like It directed by Samuel West.
