Actor. Eddington worked in television, theatre, film and voice over. He first appeared on television in the 1950s and later had roles in The Avengers (ITV, 1961-69) and The Prisoner (ITV, 1967-8). He is best remembered for his portrayal of Jerry Leadbetter, the long-suffering but pragmatic neighbour in the situation comedy The Good Life (1975-8), and for his role of MP and later Prime Minister Jim Hacker in the political situation comedies Yes, Minister (BBC, 1980-4) and Yes, Prime Minister (1986-8).
