Writer and actor. Following work on stage while at Oxford, Williams quickly gained roles on stage and screen. He directed one film The Last Days of Dolwyn (1949). He wrote the screenplay and acted in the film, which also happened to be the screen debut of Richard Burton, whom he had cast in his play The Druid's Rest (St Martin's Theatre, 1944), Burton's stage debut. His play Night Must Fall (1935) was made into a film in 1937 by Richard Thorpe. He acted in over thirty films, wrote five screenplays and fifteen plays.
