Mr James Joyce (Male)

Nationality: Irish

Author

Born: 2 February 1882

Died: 13 January 1941

One of Ireland's most celebrated writers, Joyce is best known for his modernist prose works such as the short story collection Dubliners (1914), and novels including A Potrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916), Ulysses (1922), and Finnegans Wake (1939). According to the James Joyce Centre, Joyce's one theatrical work, Exiles (1914), was initially rejected by various theatres in England, Ireland and America including W.B. Yeats at The Abbey Theatre. It was first produced in Munich in 1919 and since then the only significant production arguably came from Harold Pinter in the Mermaid Theatre, London in the Winter of 1970/1.
