In ‘Tea Party’ a middle-aged, self-made plumbing tycoon, Disson, engages his young secretary, marries a beautiful young second wife, and takes his new brother-in-law into his business—all in the same day. Mysteries abound. Ordinary events assume a sinister tinge. At the tea party that ends the play, Disson sits in a catatonic state, his eyes tightly bandaged, as the guests chatter and whisper, ignoring him. The short story 'Tea Party', written in 1963 and was published in 'Playboy' in 1964; it was read on BBC Radio in 1964 and developed into this television play for broadcast in 1965.

Date of Composition: 1963 - 1964
