Born: 10 December 1960

Actor, director, film producer, and screenwriter. Branagh rose to prominence in the 1980s, and co-founded Renaissance Theatre Company in 1987, with which he consolidated a reputation for productions of Shakespeare. An international reputation and recognition was built with his film productions of Henry V (1989), Much Ado About Nothing (1993), Hamlet (1996), Love's Labour's Lost (2000) and As You Like It (2006). He has continued work on stage, television and in film, notably the television series Wallander, adaptations of Henning Mankell's Kurt Wallander novels (2008–2016).
