Actor and performer. Daniel Massey was born in London in 1933. Massey made his film debut in Noēl Coward's naval drama, In Which We Serve (1942). He appeared in many British films including The Entertainer, Cromwell, The Cat and the Canary, Star (for which he won a Golden Globe Award), Victory! and In the Name of the Father. On stage, he appeared in many productions and won several awards including an Olivier Award for Best Actor and Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor In A Play for his role as Wilhelm Furtwāngler in Taking Sides. On television, his roles included parts in The Crucible for the BBC (1981) and Daniel in the 1970 BBC adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's The Roads to Freedom. He died in 1998.
