Writer, producer and director. Kustow first worked in Roger Planchon's Théâtre de la Cité in Lyon, before studying drama as a peer of Henry Woolf in Bristol. He joined Wesker's Centre 42 project at the Roundhouse in 1962, and then the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1963. He ran the Institute of Contemporary Arts from 1967 to 1970. In 1973 he became an an associate director of the National Theatre, alongside Harold Pinter.
