At the end of the tour, a transfer to the West End was cancelled by the proposed host, the Gielgud Theatre in Shaftsbury Avenue, as the management had concerns that the play was not commercial enough. They booked the musical Boyband (by Peter Quilter) instead. Pinter, in The Guardian, referred to this as 'an act of betrayal' 'a disgrace to me, to the production, and to English theatre' (see Sources).
